The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm's booklet was my Senior Bachelor of Fine Arts Project. This was meant to be a multi-disciplinary project that showcased different types of fine arts. As a Graphic Design major, I knew the pages were going to use a lot of different typography skills and design choices to make the pages visually appealing. The visual layout of the pages were also to be designed after the content on each page. I hand bound this book to showcase my book binding skills and make a one-of-a-kind senior project. I also printed each page individually on 8.5” x 11” sheets of paper to let the viewers be able to flip through the pages and look closely at the typography of each page without having to handle the one-of-a-kind booklet.

As the graphic designer for the Activities Council of Bradley University, I was asked to create a logo and t-shirt design for the annual Siblings Weekend at Bradley. The theme for 2020 was “Rumble in the Jungle”. I chose to go with a plant and leaf theme as it is pretty timeless and ageless in my opinion. I wanted the design to be able to be worn by all ages, from little kids to college students to older adults. I think that the overall design worked well with the theme and the leaves I created were also used for the posters and other promotional items for the events.

The Bradley University Motorcycle Club was started in 2019 and I was asked to design the logo to go with posters and other promotional materials. I encapsulated the logo in a circle to imitate a wheel. The tire tracks cutting through the circle to follow through the circle after reading the title. This will then bring them to the motorcycle vector image on the bottom.

We were asked to design a four fold magazine layout for the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami of 2011. This project would focus on information graphics about the earthquake and tsunami. The information needed to be readable and understandable so for most of them, we were able to use a key or a sentence or two about the infographic. I decided to design the layout like a detective story board where the information looks to be on a cork board with pins, sticky notes, tape, and red ribbon. I wanted the layout to look as though this is the board about what happened when and where and the effects those events had on future events.

I wanted to design an app for shoes where the user can view the shoe, virtually try on the shoe, see images of how the shoe is styled, etc. I wanted the app to be easy to navigate and personalize. I love shoes and I wanted to create an app that allows other show lovers to find what they are looking for.

For this project, we chose a typeface and created a poster based on the history and usage of the typeface. I chose Garamond because it is a typeface that I used often at that time and I wanted to know more about it.When researching the Garamond typeface, I found that the typeface was briefly used for the Google logo. In order to keep with that theme, I chose to create a poster that visually resembles a window page on a desktop. The fun facts on the bottom of the poster resemble classic popup ads.

I chose to use purple throughout the logos as it was his favorite color. I mocked up the design that I liked the best on t-shirts, keychains, etc. I wanted to create logos that are respectful to Cord and his family.

We were asked to create a wayfinding app for the Peoria Zoo in Illinois. We needed to include a map of the zoo, a way for people at the zoo to navigate their way, and an incentive for those who become members of the zoo. I chose to make the app user friendly for all ages, from teenagers to elderly. I created an alert for feeding times so the audience can receive a fifteen minute notification for when the feeding is to begin. I chose to create easy to recognize vector images of the different animals to make it simple for the users to know where certain animals are located.

For this project, we were asked to gather information about a day or a week of some journey you take. It could be a walk through the park or a week's worth of shifts at your job. After gathering this information, we were then asked to use information graphics to show the data. I chose to follow a 6 hour shift as a barista at Starbucks. I gathered information about what kinds of drinks were ordered, who ordered them, how people paid in the drive through, how many Refreshers I made, how many mobile orders we received by the hour, and even my favorite and least favorite drinks to make.
